  • 80ml honey
  • 2 teaspoons light soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Place chicken thighs and drumsticks in an oven tin and dredge lightly with flour.
  3. Mix the sweet chilli sauce, honey and soy sauces and spoon over the chicken.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the skin is crispy and starting to blacken, around 1 hour 30 minutes, basting every 20 minutes.

Posted by Angela Steffi on 10:41:00 PM Chilli Chicken is one of my favorite recipes,whenever I go to a restaurant the first thing I would order from the menu card will be chilli chicken Dry.I was 15 when I first tasted this recipe,from then on my crave for this delicious recipe never had a full stop,so I decided to make this at home .First attempt was a huge success and my family members loved it and the same day I was forced to make a second batch.Chilli chicken is an Indo-Chinese recipe in which chicken is coated with chilli sauce, soy sauce, pepper and has lot of flavoring in it.This restaurant style chilli chicken is my family favorite and I guarantee that you will also like this recipe.
We can make variations in this recipe ,we can make it semi gravy for naan, roti or fried rice by adding corn flour mixture or we can also make it dry and can serve as a starter both tastes awesome.The bell peppers and the onions added in this recipe will have a crunchy texture and tastes delightful.

METHOD

Wash and drain chicken. If using breast then cut into desired pieces (long thick strips are nice)
Fry the chicken using the Kentucky powder. (Dipping in egg before the flour will make flour stick to chicken better)
Or if you prefer not to FRY then marinade the chicken in some tandoori powder, salt,haldi, ginger/garlic paste,red chilli, green/chilli and some lemon/vinegar. Place in oven to cook and brown both sides.
If you have fried the chicken then Leave in the oven to keep warm.
Just before serving prepare the sauce:
In a pot add 2-3 tablespoon of oil Add some cumin seeds, Add half of the chopped peppers Add 1 teaspoon of ginger/garlic paste, Add 1 small bottle of sweet chilli sauce. Mix and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Taste for salt and add if necessary. If you like it more hot then add some green chilli. Finally add some sliced spring onions and 2 teaspoon of sesame seeds.
Pour the sauce over the chicken and give it a little mix.
Garnish with the rest of the chopped peppers and some spring onions and fresh coriander.

  • If you don&rsquot like spice then skip the sweet chilli sauce and add a tbs of honey, maybe a tsp of wholegrain mustard or sprinkling of smoked paprika for a little heat.
  • Add more vegetables &ndash chunkily chopped onion, courgette or mushrooms all work well.
  • Skip the wrap and serve on a bed of fluffy rice.
  • You could make chicken goujon wrap and use quick and easy breaded chicken goujons tossed in the sweet chilli sauce with stir fried vegetables.

Sweet Chilli Chicken Drumsticks (Video)

I think everyone loves eating chicken drumsticks, they're so easy to make for dinner! Sweet Chili Chicken Drumsticks is one of the tastiest chicken drumstick recipes I make. Sweet and a little spicy, infused with garlic and ginger, a tasty Asian dinner.

Chicken Drumsticks Marinade

There are so many ways to make a marinade for chicken drumsticks, and this is one of the easiest recipes I know. Full of flavor, this Sweet Chili Chicken Recipe is an easy Thai favorite. Each summer I make the Sweet Chilli Sauce at home from scratch. It's easy to make, but you can buy it at any Asian grocer or supermarket.

You don't need to add any additional flavors to this marinade, other than soy sauce, juice of a lime and the Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce. That's it. The hard work has already been done when they made the sauce, with garlic, ginger and chili peppers. The soy sauce adds saltiness, and the lime gives the sour. Just throw it all into a Ziploc bag for an easy and mess free way to marinate the chicken.

Oven Baked Chicken

So many different ways to make chicken, not all of them healthy, from using Shake-n-Bake to battered and deep fried. This Sweet Chili Chicken recipe is much healthier, without any unpronounceable ingredients. Every summer, grill it on the barbecue. There is something tasty about a chargrilled chicken that has crispy burnt bits, so good. However, as it's winter here, I'm using my oven.

Baking Chicken in the oven allows me to quickly make it, even on a day when I'm not working at home. So easy to throw it in a baking tray and continue to deal with the chaos of life.

It's best to marinate the drumsticks a day before. The drumsticks can even be marinated in the Ziploc bag and thrown in the freezer. It takes no time at all to prepare, such an easy mid-week dinner recipe.

Sweet Chilli Chicken Side Dishes

There are so many things you can eat with this recipe, here are some of my recommendations. The Thai Cauliflower Rice is healthy and keeps with the dinner theme. However, I usually need carbs, so Garlic Mash and Broccoli are my other suggestions.

Ayam Kecap Pedas - Chicken in Spicy Sweet Soy Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 4 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (Indonesian: kecap manis)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 400 ml water
  • 1 red chili (Indonesian: cabe merah besar), sliced diagonally
  • 1 green chili (Indonesian: cabe hijau besar), sliced diagonally
  • Spice paste
  • 5 red chilies (Indonesian: cabe merah keriting)
  • 5 candlenuts (Indonesian: kemiri)
  • 5 shallots (Indonesian: bawang merah)
  • 3 cloves garlic (Indonesian: bawang putih)
  • 1 inch ginger (Indonesian: jahe)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan and saute spice paste until fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add chicken pieces and cook until chicken is no longer pink.
  3. Season with sweet soy sauce, salt, and sugar. Stir to mix well.
  4. Pour water into the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover the pan, and simmer for 15 minutes until chicken is cooked and tender.
  5. Remove the cover. Add half of the red chili and green chili, and continue cooking until the sauce is reduced and turns into a nice glace.
  6. Turn off heat, transfer to a serving plate and garnish with the remaining red chili and green chili. Serve with steamed white rice.


How to make sweet crispy Korean fried chicken

Chicken

Dakgangjeong is traditionally made with a whole chicken cut up. Some people make it only with chicken wings. I usually use boneless, skinless chicken thighs for this recipe, but you can use breast meat if preferred.

To make this dish, I soak the chicken pieces in milk for a couple of hours, but it&rsquos not absolutely necessary. This is a technique Koreans use to tenderize the meat and remove any gamey taste. The result is tender, juicy, and flavorful fried chicken.

Then, marinate the chicken pieces with a little bit of salt, ginger and garlic before lightly coating them with the potato starch.The potato starch creates a light, crispy crust for the fried chicken.

Sweet and spicy sauce

The sauce is sweet and tangy with a little spicy kick from the gochujang (Korean red chili pepper paste). It&rsquos far from fiery hot, but reduce or omit the gochujang if you&rsquod like. You can replace gochujang partially or entirely with ketchup. It&rsquos very common to use ketchup in a dakgangjeong sauce for a milder taste. Add more soy sauce if omitting or reducing gochujang.

You can also boost the heat level by simmering the sauce with a little bit of gochugaru (Korean red chili pepper flakes) or whole dried red peppers.

Garnish with chopped nuts or seeds, if desired. Peanuts are common, but sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds are great as well.


Step by step recipe for Honey Chilli Chicken

  1. Clean and cut the chicken into small bite size portions.
  2. Mix Maida, Chilli powder and salt.
  3. Coat the chicken pieces with this flour mix. Shake off excess flour.
  4. Make a thin batter with Corn flour, Pepper powder, soy sauce, salt and water.
  5. Dip the chicken pieces in batter and fry in oil till golden brown. Keep aside.

  1. Remove excess oil and fry finely chopped garlic, ginger and Red chilli.
  2. Add chopped spring onion whites and Crushed Chilli.
  3. Pour Soy sauce and tomato sauce.
  4. Mix corn flour in little water/ chicken stock and add to the gravy and stir to thicken the gravy. Adjust the salt.
  5. Transfer fried Chicken pieces to gravy and combine to coat the pieces.

  1. Take off from the flame and keep aside. Once the steam settles, add honey and combine well.
  2. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with chopped Spring onion greens and toasted sesame seeds.
  3. Serve Honey Chilli Chicken with Fried rice, Noodles, Naan or enjoy it as a starter.

How to make Restaurant Style Chilli Chicken

  • Start by cutting the chicken into bite-size pieces. Then combine them with salt, pepper, vinegar, egg, and ginger-garlic paste and leave it for a minimum of half an hour.
  • Next combine them with cornflour, all-purpose flour, and oil. Deep fry the chicken in batches until crisp and golden brown.
  • Combine soy sauce, ketchup, red chili sauce in a bowl and mix cornflour and water in another bowl.
  • Saute the ginger-garlic and green chili followed by onion and bell pepper.
  • Stir in the cornflour mixture and toss the fried chicken with sauces.
  • The restaurants use a wok to prepare this delicious recipe. If you have a wok you can use that. However, a kadhai or pan can also do the job well.
  • For more gravy increase the quantity of water while mixing with cornflour and increase the quantity of sauce as well.
  • If you want a completely dry version, skip adding the cornflour and water mix.
