Virgin Mojito Recipe
When you have been outside in the garden working or if the weather is super-hot there is nothing more thirst quenching than a big glass of chilled water! I try and drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day, and most days I don’t have any trouble meeting that quota! That & # 8217s because water has no taste, so you can drink it with every meal and you don’t have to worry about if it will clash with the food!
As much as I like water it is nice to have some other drinks as well. When you are looking for a refreshing summertime drink you can’t go past a lemon based drink! Aside from plain water I find that lemon drinks are very satisfying on a hot day. So today I am sharing a recipe for a Virgin Mojito using fresh lemon juice!
To be honest I had never had a mojito until this summer but after I came across this recipe for a Virgin Mojito I thought that the lemon and mint flavor combination was wonderful. I love that it is a non-alcoholic mojito because I wanted a drink that I could enjoy at any time of day. I understand that an alcoholic mojito has rum in it and you could easily add some rum to this recipe if you wanted to turn it into a proper cocktail!
We always have a pot of mint growing during the summer and usually have lemons in the house so this drink is very easy to put together in a hurry! Also, because it’s non-alcoholic it is great for the whole family. This would be a wonderful drink to prepare to take to a spring or summer picnic or BBQ!
I wanted to be able to keep the sugar content down so I have adjusted the recipe just slightly. I have enjoyed the refreshing taste of this virgin mojito several times over the summer and I know that I will be making it again next summer too!

Zero-Proof Jalapeno Paloma is the perfect grapefruit model if you reduce alcohol consumption or take a dry challenge, but want to have an adult drink.
- 1/4 jalapeno
- 1/2 teaspoon agave syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoon water
- juice of 1/2 red or pink grapefruit, about 1/3 cup
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- Lacroix sparkling water or grapefruit up
- 1 grapefruit wedge for serving
- Optional: sea salt, kosher salt or Tajin rim spice
If you like salt on the rim, add a few tablespoons in a large, shallow bowl. Remove half of the grapefruit in the bowl and mix to combine. This will do enough to salt more cocktails and you can save the leftovers in a Ziploc for a day or two.
Cut the jalapeno (leave the seeds and core to make it a little more spicy, remove them for lighter ones) and add them to a cocktail shaker or a sturdy glass along with the agave syrup. Use a sludge or the handle of a wooden spoon to mix jalapenos (basically, lightly crush to release the flavor and start infusing the syrup), then add the grapefruit and lime juices. For a spicier drink, let it infuse for at least 15 minutes.
If you skip your glass, use a cutting knife to cut a small grapefruit feather well and rub it along the rim to moisten it, then roll it in salt until it is covered. Gently touch any excess.
Fill the glass with ice and pour the cocktail, jalapenos and all. Cover with sparkling water, 1/3 to 1/2 cup or to taste. Serve with grapefruit wedge.

Virgin Mojito Ingredients
Lime. If you can find the small sized ones get them, those limes have a stronger flavor.
Fresh mint leaves. To get the best flavor out of the mint leaves, make sure there are no black spots on the leaves, and they are not withered. You will use it in making the virgin mojito and for the garnishing.
Club soda or soft drink like 7Up. You can mix club soda and 7Up or use one, but if you decide to use club soda only, then increase the amount of sugar.
child, you will need it because we have lemon juice in the recipe. Also, you will use some of it to garnish the glass if you wish.
Ice. Some recipes call for crushed ice, but I like to use cubes. In case you used crushed ice, add half of it before adding the drink, and the other half after the drink reaches three fourth of the glass.
What Ingredients Are in a Virgin Mojito Recipe?
Fresh lime juice makes this drink bright and flavorful, but you can totally cheat if you want to make pitchers for a crowd, or just don & rsquot feel the desire to squeeze limes.
Using a quality limeade is a great substitute for the lime juice and the simple syrup combo. Use 1/4 cup of limeade in lieu of the fresh lime and honey syrup. When I buy limeade I love Newman & rsquos Own brand because it tastes fresh and has a great lime flavor.
We use plain sparkling water that we make in our Soda Stream, but feel free to use your favorite sparkling water. Want to use a flavored sparkling water? Go for it! I would stick with lime or lemon, but that & rsquos just me.
Technically you could also use ginger ale or a lemon-lime flavored soda in lieu of the sparkling water, but I & rsquom in the camp of & ldquowhy add more sugar when it isn & rsquot needed & rdquo.
